TRANSMISSION OIL

Automotive transmission oils, also known as transmission fluids, belong to a category of lubricants that protect a car's transmission gears and clutch packs. It also helps with smooth shifts and prevents heat from damaging the fluid.

Transmission Oil is usually a blend of synthetic and mineral oils, with synthetic oils making up the majority of the mix. It also contains additives to help it resist wear, tear, heat, and friction.

There are three types of transmission fluid: wet, synthetic, and mineral. Wet refers to traditional mineral oil or synthetic motor oil. Mineral oil-based transmission fluid is a mixture of hydrocarbons (mostly petroleum) and performance additives that help make the fluid slippery so it flows easily.

Transmission fluid needs to be changed every two to five years or 30,000 to 50,000 miles, depending on the transmission type.

Automatic transmission fluid (ATF) is a type of hydraulic fluid used in vehicles with automatic transmissions. It is typically colored red or green to distinguish it from motor oil and other fluids in the vehicle.
